Risk Mitigation Plan

Cerulean proactively identifies risk factors for every project and plans on how to address them, thereby ensuring a lowered risk quotient for the project.

The following matrix identifies typical risk factors and mitigants:

Risk Factor Mitigating factors
Scope Creep

Rigorous, well-documented Requirements Analysis. Requirements Analysis documents must be signed off by the client before deployment can be started

Budgeting for scope creep. We typically suggest to our clients to budget for an additional 10-20% for additional features that may come up during the execution of the project.

Internal & External Dependencies Detailed Project Plan that shows such dependencies and tracks successful handling of dependencies.
Delays in Project Deliverables Break up the project execution into smaller milestones, so that instead of monitoring just the end date, each stage can be tracked for completion, with delays being red flagged at each stage
Technology Risks Highlight comfort level with technology elements before implementation. Judicious build versus buy decisions.
Process Risks – offshore collaboration Implementation of communication plan.
Organizational Risks Legal contracts are in place to ensure an orderly transition phase, with detailed handover documentation. Deliberate overstaffing of project team to de-risk against attrition.
Infrastructure Risk Insurance policies in place for protection against accidents and theft of property. Sufficient redundancies in networking, UPS and communication channels.
